Delivering Support for Andrew’s Long-Term Goals

Danielle Lawson NDIS

Andrew is 27 years old. When he was 16 months old, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Then at three, Andrew was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. He also has serious hearing loss. These combined issues have made his speech virtually unintelligible to a stranger, leading him to feel isolated at times.

Andrew’s NDIS goals are focused on building independence, as well as connections in the community. Zest Care have been working with the family and Andrew’s mother Wendy McAvoy is extremely happy with the progress that has been made:

“Mel at Zest Care has been brilliant. I’m getting feedback all the time and I know where I’m at with every stage.”

“It has changed so much for Andrew. He’s so much more outgoing; he’s socialising.”

It’s incredibly important to Wendy that her son can survive on his own, which is why we’re supporting him to learn new skills. “What’s really important to me with Zest is what they say they’re going to do…they deliver,” says Wendy.

Wendy was kind enough to sit down with us to talk about Andrew’s journey with Zest Care; you can watch her interview below.
