60 Seconds With A Support Worker: Jessica

Danielle Lawson In The Spotlight, Uncategorized

Jessica Brockway is one of our incredible, new disability Support Workers. She’s currently taking part in a traineeship to become part of the next generation of selfless individuals to work in this rewarding field. Let’s find out a little bit more about Jess.

How long have you worked at Zest Care?

I’ve been working for Zest as part of a traineeship for three months now.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Knowing that I’m making a difference in clients’ daily lives to achieve their goals. And also my dogs!  They can be quite annoying in the mornings.

What is your biggest achievement to date?

My biggest achievement at the moment would have to be finally finding a job I enjoy doing every day!

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical working day would be helping clients get ready for the day, doing domestic duties, personal care assistance or taking them out. Each day is usually different depending on what goals they want to achieve for the day or week. On my days off or in between shifts, I am either on the lounge watching Netflix or hanging out with my family and friends.

What three words would you use to describe your job?

Challenging, caring and rewarding.

What do you like most about your job?

I like being around to help clients when they need it, or just being there to hang out with them for the day. The appreciation I get from them every day is very rewarding.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“Life is what you make it.”

What is your favourite blog or social media account?

It’s not a blog or social media account but I’m gonna have to go with Pinterest!

Given a chance, who would you be for a day?

This might sound silly but I would have to go with Iron Man.  I find him to be one of the coolest superheroes. It would be awesome to wear a suit and to be able to fly.

What’s your favourite line from a film?

“Some people can’t believe in themselves until someone else believes in them first.” – Sean Maguire, Good Will Hunting.

What is your favourite thing about working with Zest?

My favourite thing about working for Zest is being able to be part of a team who will go above and beyond for clients and the Support Workers.
