The Scollard Family Find Their Perfect Match

Finding the right support through the National Insurance Disability Scheme (NDIS) is absolutely integral to a participant’s happiness. Jackie and Andrew Scollard were looking for a new Support Provider after their 20-year-old son Alex – who has Muscular Dystrophy – received his NDIS plan last year.

Jackie had heard good things about Zest Care from a friend and contacted Amy, Participant Services Coordinator, who visited their home for an in-depth discussion about Alex’s requirements.

“Amy was very friendly and a great listener as well – it was obvious that she really knew her stuff. One of the great things is how flexible Zest Care has been. Previously we’d found that two hours’ care at one sitting was too long –  it didn’t take that amount of time for Alex to be assisted with his meals and getting washed and dressed. Zest Care took that into consideration and arranged for our Support Worker Kirsty to come for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening.  It has made everything so much easier.”

Jackie notes that one of the best things to have come out of the arrangement is Kirsty’s friendship with Alex.

“Kirsty is lovely and she and Alex get on so well. Zest Care put a lot of work into matching the right Support Worker to Alex, and they would’ve changed it if it didn’t work out. Luckily she did! Kirsty is often there at 6am in the morning when we’re all in our pyjamas…so it is important that everyone is comfortable.”
