Helping Liz Navigate New NDIS Territory

Zest Care NDIS

Sydney-sider Liz Green has been living with a disability for 36 years, after a motor-vehicle accident left her a paraplegic at the age of 19.  Yet it is only recently that she has begun to access the Funded Supports provided by the Australian Government. As a capable, busy mother of four children she got on with things and made do with the support of her family.

However, a shoulder injury last year made domestic chores more difficult. Motivated by this and the knowledge that she would need more support in the future, Liz attempted to access the NDIS. However, she felt stymied by paperwork, lack of information about who exactly to contact about what, and the fact it was all entirely new territory.

In November, a contact recommended Zest Care as NDIS experts and service providers who could connect all the dots.

Since then, we’ve been helping Liz coordinate her Supports so that she can meet the goals of her NDIS Plan.

This includes help with domestic chores and better assistive technology – a new wheelchair and a “power assist”; a wheelchair power accessory which expands the range of mobility for manual wheelchair users.

Liz says Zest have been fundamental in bringing it all together.

“It’s so great to be able to ring one person and get it all sorted. Loren at Zest Care has been great. She knows how to make it all happen.”

Another major coup has been Liz getting approval for exercise physiology. This was not covered in her initial NDIS Plan, so Loren helped Liz re-apply. We’re delighted that the additional funding has now been approved!

We’re always thrilled to hear when we’ve been able to assist our clients navigate the NDIS and work towards their goals – which is why Liz is this month’s Good News Story!
